Vcheck's TSH test measures for the TSH glycoprotein produced by the anterior pituitary gland. Through its action on the thyroid gland, it plays a major role in maintaining normal circulating levels of the thyroid hormones, T4 and T3. Hypothyroidism is considered to be a common endocrine disorder in dogs, whereas hyperthyroidism in this species is rarely seen.
Animal: Canine
Sample Type: Serum 100μl
Measurement Range: 0.25-5.00 mg/L
Testing Time: 15 minutes
Clinical Application
Diagnosis of canine hypothyroidism
A serum TSH concentration greater than the reference range is consistent with hypothyroidism. The TSH Assay has high specificity, and serum levels should be interpreted in conjunction with the results from a T4 test.
